Trance music first appeared during early 1980s. With a tempo of around 130 and 160 beats per minute and repeating synthesizer melodies and phrases, it is a popular genre of music for clubs, dances, and parties. Trance didn't come as a movement, but rather it was a result of the Acid House movement in the UK. In the mid 1990s, trance, primarily Progressive trance, became the standard for dance music in clubs and parties. Some of the most notable Trance artists include Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Robert Miles, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, ATB, and Paul Oakenfold.
Trance is more easy listening than drum and bass, but also a bit faster than house. Some trance artists have no vocals in their work, while many others contain mainly vocals. It is a widely adaptable genre. Many people do not know the difference between Trance and the former Techno. There are several trance festivals year-round all over the world, which are hosted by some of the most widely known trance artists.
